Jessica Stein, DVM
Dr. Jessica Stein is a bright addition to Staunton River Veterinary Clinic. A Botetourt native, Jessica attended Virginia Tech for undergraduate and majored in Animal Science. She then went on to attend veterinary school at Ross University, located in sunny St. Kitts (in the caribbean). Her studies concluded at North Carolina State University and she spent her first several years practicing veterinary medicine on a variety of species (large and small) in North Carolina.
Although Jessica has plenty of love for her larger four-legged friends, she has found her passion in small animal medicine. She enjoys the daily surprises, challenges, and satisfaction of private practice while helping families help their pets. Whether in the clinic or on house calls, Jessica will make sure your loved ones get the best care possible.
In her free time Jessica enjoys spending time in the great outdoors with her fiancee Jorge and two dogs- âAbcdeâ an island rescue, and Little Dog- a pug-chihuahua rescue from NC. You may even find her atop a horse every now and then. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to join our team and help serve her childhood community, friends, and family.
Carrie Turnbull, DVM
Dr. Carrie Turnbull is the owner and chief veterinarian at Staunton River Vet Clinic. She is a 2006 graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and a 2000 graduate of Roanoke College with a bachelor'Âs degree in Biology and a minor in music.
Though she was born and raised in the Roanoke Valley, she spent five years working as a veterinarian in private practice in the Washington, D.C., metro area before returning to her home in 2011. Since purchasing Staunton River Veterinary Clinic in 2011, Dr. Carrie is focused on continuing to build strong partnerships in the community for the benefit of animals and their owners.
She is especially interested in animal behavior and educating pet owners on how to keep their four-legged family members healthy. When she's not at work, you'll find her along with her husband and their two little girls hiking the many wonderful trails this region has to offer.
