A Surprise Dream

Dr. Carrie Turnbull didn’t always dream of being a veterinarian. When she set off for college, her dream was to be a professional cellist. In between her junior and senior years, she stayed at her older brother’s house that summer and discovered how much she loved animals. Thanks to a litter of puppies, and one she named Cody, she discovered her deep connection to dogs and how much joy and comfort they brought her. When she returned for her senior year of college, she changed her life course.

After completing veterinary school, Dr. Turnbull worked for several different clinics. She didn’t find the home she was looking for at these clinics. In 2012, she decided to purchase her own clinic to create a space where not only the animals were loved and appreciated, but also the clients and the employees. She wanted to treat every person and animal like they were family. Staunton River Vet Clinic is the result of this dream.

Dr. Turnbull is always trying to find ways that will not only improve the quality of medicine that we practice but to also continuously show each client and employee that they are appreciated and loved as family.
